| Pros: |
Nice graphics
True to the Worms world (If that's a good thing...!)

|
Cons: |
Storage Card a no no
A
bit fiddly at times
|
| Okay,
well for those who don't know, following the collapse of my beloved T3
and its subsequent return to Palm, I purchased myself one of those HP
4700 VGA things.
Sadly, it came with a battery fault, and while I love a hand warmer at
the appropriate snow ridden times, it's the first time I've burnt
myself on a pda.
Never mind, that aside, I did manage to get a bit of play in with Worms
World Party before I was rendered PDA-less (Yeah yeah, again!). I think
Neil will enjoy a challenge converting me to the cult of Loox anyway...
|
| So
I apologise for the one gif image, but there's a demo available for you
to try it out from the usual channels.
|
| For
those of you who've played worms there's not much for me to say. It's
just like Worms Armageddon, or at least very similar.
Weapons, screens, and the landscapes all seem familiar. Just packed
down into the smaller machine. To summarise, I'd describe it as a
"port".
Try out the demo, have fun, and see what you think. Machine specific, I
should point out that you probably won't be able to install it on
Memory Card, at least it wouldnt run for me when I did. Other machines
may have more luck of course. I had no problems, no crashes and no
"stuttering etc." but then the 4700 is a new machine so I'd hope not.
|
| Now
for "what's worms Armageddon?" people, I'll try and explain what worms
Armageddon is. You may have only played the first worms, so listen up.
It's based on those artillery games where you and the computer have a
tank, and you set angle and power, adjusted for wind, and fire your
weapon, trying to destroy the enemy before he gets you. |
| Worms
is, basically, a bit like Transformers in a way. The difference being
that rather than turning from Transit Vans into homocidal mass killing
machines, they turn from cute little worms, into
bazooka/grenade/explosive sheep carrying, war mongerers. Many of you
have probably played Snails, its the same idea, different weapons.
The difference between them, is its worms not tanks. Oh and they don't
have shells (though I suppose they do in snails, ho ho), they have,
erm, Bazookas, grenades, cluster bombs, Exploding sheep, flying sheep,
banana bombs, and ........ I think you get the idea at this point,
Think men in white coats, and you're close.
For first Generation Wormers, the improvement up from the original
worms is basically an improvement in general and game options, a bit of
playability, lots more weapons, and the graphics/landscapes. See the
"animated gif" above for an idea of how the screens look.
|
| Summary:
It's faithful to the PC Version, no compromises that I could see. All
the weapons and everything are there, even the ninja ropes etc. (for
the hardcore wormers!)
It's not as easy as with a mouse, remember that it may not run from the
storage card, and don't forget your worming powder...
