Proporta TH55 Leather Book Case (available here)

TH

Two items I really hate reviewing are PDA cases and screen protectors. Proporta sent me one of each and thus I feel duty bound to oblige and to be fair, I did request them:)

I will start with the TH55 case which I obviously needed as the PDA has been caseless for a wee or so an that is a feeling I never like. It's not like the standard Proporta case due to the design of the TH but it has obviously been built with the user in mind.

Storage

You may know by now that I much prefer cases which allow credit cards and money to be carried alongside the PDA as this acts as a wallet and saves carrying lots of seperate bundles around. This case has 3 credit card slots which are generously proportioned and actually allow 2 cards to fit in each slot (be careful though as this could damage the cards). There are 2 memory stick slots and a protective cover between the cards and the PDA itself.

TH

Since I first used one of these covers I cannot imaging a case without one as it not on allows more room for papers and notes, it ensures that the screen of your PDA will not be damaged.

Security

The PDA is held in place by 2 anchors at the bottom and 2 clasps which are placed to allign with the holes in the back and top of the Clie. This works well and whilst it is a little tricky to work out at first you soon get used to it and can place and remove the case in seconds in future.

There's a magnetic clasp to shut the case which works well and the loop is very big and does a good job of holding everything together.

Access

To allow access to all of the buttons and the camera on the TH significant changes have been made to the overall design. The front and back of the case are held together by a 2 inch strip of leather which is very strong but does leave the case slightly loose when using the Clie in the case as the wallet side hangs to the side.

TH

The only downside I could see is that the case will give no protection in the rain. Difficult to let this bother me at the moment as I'm sat in the garden writing this in glorious sunshine:) Maybe in the winter though a different case would be needed.

Pros

Value for money is superb
Build quality Useability (all functions and camera workable whilst in the case)
Design (looks great)

Cons

No real protection against rain and harsh weather

Note: all photos taken with TH55

Proporta Deluxe Screen Protector (TungstenT3) (available here)

T3

Here goes the nighmare of screen protector review writing:)

Proporta claim this to be the best screen protector you can buy and I agree (sort of). I have tested and used many protectors from PDair, Brando, ARM, Clove, Covertec etc. Etc. and recently there is no doubt that the overall quality of the various makes out there has improved somewhat.

I cheated a bit with this review and stuck their T3 protector on a TH55 as the size is exactly the same. It cuts glare down very well and was the easiest to apply of all the models I have tested.

The feel of writing on it is very good and they achieve that pen to paper feeling that we all want in a PDA. I just cannot fault this screen protector but I also cannot say it is the best I have used as it appears to be the equal of most others out there with almost no difference spotted.

What I can say is that for the money it is a real bargain. Note: this protector is not intended for the TH55 and does not work too well as the Sony screen is not sensitive enough)

Pros

Value for money (£5.95!!!)
Cuts glare
Nice writing feel

Cons

None
