29/12/2002 Interview with Alexandre Gordian -
President of PalmarySoft.
|
|
How many people
are involved in PalmarySoft and how did it get it's name?
|
PalmarySoft is a new company, it
was founded in spring 2003. Our staff consists of 8 members. 4 of them are lead
developers: Maxim Shumilov, Alexei Orlov, Andrei Melnikov and Alexandre
Gordian. The word "Palmary" in the name of our company should be
understood ad verbum: our aim is to develop the best quality, advanced
software- we want to create new high-technologies for mobile platforms, which
you've never seen before!
|
Has Palmary Clock
been as successful as you expected so far and what plans do you have for extra
features in the future?
|
PalmaryClock's start was
successful and we hope to continue like this. Not more than ¼ of planned
features of PalmaryClock have been implemented in the first version, so, we
work on. We're going to improve clock functionality, add a world map, timer,
stopwatch etc. Of course, we'll also add digital clock skins and enhanced
sound..
|
Why make a clock
program when there are already a few available?
|
It seems to us that there is no
universal program in the market which has both serious functionality and is
attractive (and even more important, customisable) from a visual appearance
perspective.
|
Do you have plans
for other programs and if so, can you give us any details yet?:)
|
Next month we plan the release of
PalmaryView -a new program for viewing graphic files. We can give you
the following details about this program: PalmaryView will be absolutely free
for all users, it will support JPG, BMP ? Photos PDB standards. PalmaryView is
based on an original development - digital images decoding and processing
library, optimized specially for ARM- compatible PDA .
We have also 2 serious projects which are already
under development. Now we can't give the details, but we think these projects
will be really interesting for users.
|
What PDA do you
use and why?
|
In our work we use Palm PDAs only
(from Palm Vx to Palm T3). Why? It's hard to say. Maybe it's a
tradition..
|
What's the best
book you have ever read?
|
"Labyrinth of
Reflections" by Sergey LUKYANENKO ) is a really wonderful book.
|
Personally I love
Palmary Clock- what's the general feedback been like?
|
The feedback has been really
positive. It made us very happy:)
|
Where do you see
the PDA industry going in the next 2 years?
|
We are sure the PDA industry will
flourish. We stake a lot on transforming the PDA into a multifunctional
communication device and on the development of programs which will use the
remote services. And we are already working on it...
|
What's your
favourite PDA program by another developer?
|
LOTS OF programs have been tried
on our PDAs. We can say that many good programs appeared during recent times.
It would be incorrect with respect to others to name only one.
|
Anything you
would like to add?
|
Best regards to your club! It's
very pleasant for us, program developers, to see, that the results of our work
are demanded and evoke widespread positive responses.
