Escape
"Just what I need - another application to demonstrate to the world how bad my coordination, memory, and motor skills are..." David Eaton

Here's the detailed instruction manual for Escape- "Click and drag the red block, avoiding all of the blue blocks for as long as you can."

Escape OK, that's all you need to know- this game is the classic ''waiting room'' time waster or can frustrate you for hours on end as you try to beat your previous high score- you will NOT be able to put this down...

History: I was sent an HTML version of Escape and thought I would give it a try. Needless to say I was hooked and could not stop playing until I had reached the magic 20 second mark. It struck me that a Palm OS version was needed and after emailing a few developers Megasoft2000 stepped up and spent some time porting it to the handheld platform. The game reminds me of PacMan and Tetris for it's simplicty and the sheer frustration it can envoke in the player and thus goes down as a classic retro style game in my opinion.

If the game is successful we will look to make some improvements in the coming months. To the right are some of my initial thoughts but if you have some ideas just drop me a line. We have searched long and hard to find the original writer of this program but they added no indication of who they are and currently we believe the programming to be a standard text book computing example with a few tweaks. 1/ Themes & graphical improvements: obviously this game's beauty is in the simplicity of the programming but it would be nice to give the option of added themes and bonuses such as Nemo or Jedi Rankings.
2/ Random patterns: currently the goal is to stay alive for as long as possible following the same pattern each time. This gives the player the opportunity to progress slowly over time and increases the longevity of the game play. The option of completely random patterns would if you require a frantic, quick blast when you have a few minutes to spare.
3/ Levels, points, bonuses: if possible this is something that would be nice to see in an 'advanced' mode.
4/ Internet hi-scores: a web page set up with player's hi-scores would be a must with monthly prizes going to the best players.
5/ If there's anything you would like to see added just let me know.

"Alright, I'm giving my two cents about Escape. It's an amazingly simple, yet incredibly addictive game! My advice to those who try this game is: make sure you have a good screen protector! I find that I press harder and harder as I try to increase my score! I showed it to one of my 13 year old twins this morning before school, and it was hard to get him to put it down so he could get to the bus! I just introduced my husband to it, and he is playing it as I write this. I keep hearing groans, and once in a while he'll call out "I got to 12!" He just informed me that his hands are sweating, and his heart is beating fast... Escape should come with a health warning! This game isn't good for guys with high blood pressure! ;-) I haven't seen him "hooked" on any PDA game before this!! (I'll turn him into a "Palm Addict" yet! ;-)" Jan

"Escape is frustrating (in a nice way). Everytime I try to beat my high score my boss walks past. This game may be the cause of my unemployment. Seriously, this game is fun!" Jake

"I have a confession to make. I didn't expect Escape to be that addictive. I downloaded it only after I'd seen it mentioned for the 4th time. I couldn't see how something so simple could be so exciting. Then I played it... I have to admit: we're talking about one addictive game. And it's a fast-acting addiction, too. :) It's the kind of game that leaves you absolutely convinced you could do better if you just tried ONE MORE TIME..." Haviv

"I hate Escape! No actually I love it. That's the problem, I'm not getting any work done. This is a very addictive game. It's like one of those games you get with the golf tees on a wood triangle. Simple but incredibly addictive. I think I need E.A.A. :-(" Dave

"Addicting and yes a little mad. One to take for the road and annoyingly addictive" Andrew

"Cool a real competitive to Bejeweled. This one may stay on my TT" Lindsey

"Tried it and liked it. A simple idea but with addictive attraction" Denzel

"What do I do? What is a Palm? Give me Connect 4 anyday! In my day we never had computers to play with!" - Sammy's Dad (that's the Irish for you)

"I wanted to add my thoughts to Escape. Here is a very mini review of Escape. First of all whoever thought of the idea of Escape is a genius. It's a simple game and why is it that simple games are always the best? First of all it loads quick and straight to the game. Secondly the game play is continuous and keeps your attention. Next you get angry with your Palm especially when you cannot beat your best time. I think this game will grow in popularity. In the meantime I am giving it a 10/10. I will add more thoughts later."
